Terms of Use
Effective date: March 10, 2026 · Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Sprout Math, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If the app is used by a child, a parent or guardian is responsible for reviewing and accepting these terms on the child's behalf.
2. Description of the App
Sprout Math is a free, offline educational app for iPhone and iPad. It focuses on children ages 6–8 and includes broader K–5 math skills. The app includes adaptive placement, practice sessions, deterministic hints, narration, and a reward system. The app bundles all content on the device.
3. License and Acceptable Use
Subject to these terms and the applicable Apple license terms, the developer grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Sprout Math on Apple devices that you own or control for personal, non-commercial educational use.
You may not reverse engineer, sell, rent, sublicense, redistribute, interfere with, or use the app or its content to violate law or another person's rights, except where applicable law expressly permits an activity despite this restriction.
4. Intended Use
Sprout Math is intended for personal, non-commercial use by families for educational practice. It is not a substitute for classroom instruction, professional tutoring, or formal assessment. The adaptive placement and mastery tracking are designed to support practice, not to diagnose learning disabilities or replace teacher evaluation.
The App is designed primarily for children ages 6–8. Its curriculum includes skills from kindergarten through grade 5 so children can begin at a suitable level and continue as they progress.
5. Educational Content Disclaimer
The curriculum in Sprout Math is aligned with US Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for mathematics, grades K-5. However:
- Content is provided for educational practice purposes only.
- Standards alignment is approximate and does not guarantee coverage of every standard in every state or district.
- The adaptive placement system estimates grade-level readiness but should not be treated as a formal assessment.
- Hints and worked examples are generated by deterministic rules, not by a licensed educator in real time.
6. Current Free Version and Future Optional Purchases
Sprout Math version 1 is free. It has no in-app purchases, subscriptions, ads, or paywalled content. All 46 skill units and 3,032 practice questions included in version 1 are available when you install the app.
A future release may offer optional additional content, features, or services for a one-time price or subscription. A paid offering will identify what is included, its price, whether it renews, the billing period, how to manage or cancel it, and what remains available without purchase before a parent authorizes payment. Paid add-ons will be separate from the free core experience and will not create a charge for past use.
Digital content or functionality used in the app will be offered through Apple's in-app purchase system where required. Purchase opportunities will appear only in a designated parent area behind the parent gate and will also require Apple's purchase confirmation. Apple handles billing and refund requests under its terms. Restorable purchases will include a restore mechanism where applicable. Family Sharing will apply only when the App Store product page or purchase screen says it is supported.
7. Privacy
The current app keeps learning data on the device and does not send it to the developer. The website Privacy Policy explains local storage, website delivery, adult-initiated support email, deletion choices, and how future changes will be disclosed.
8. Intellectual Property
The Sprout Math application, including its design, code, visual themes, companion characters, curriculum content, and branding, is owned by the developer and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the app or its content without written permission.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Sprout Math is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, aggregate liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the affected Sprout Math product or service during the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. The developer does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free content, or suitability for any specific educational outcome.
11. Changes to the App and Terms
The app may be updated, changed, or discontinued. These terms may also be updated. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date before they apply. If a change requires a separate purchase, parental notice, or consent, Sprout Math will present that choice before the related feature is used.
12. Apple Terms and Governing Law
Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies where applicable and these terms supplement it. Apple is not responsible for Sprout Math support except as required by law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions, but this choice does not remove mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
13. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
