Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 10, 2026 · Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Scope
This policy describes the current Sprout Math iPhone and iPad app, the website at sproutmath.app, and adult-initiated support email. The app and website are designed to minimize data collection and do not create user accounts.
2. Information the App Collects
None is transmitted or made available to the developer. The current app does not collect personal information from children or adults. Specifically:
- No name, email, phone number, or account credentials are collected or transmitted.
- No device identifiers, advertising IDs, or tracking data are collected.
- No GPS location, IP address, or geographic data is accessed.
- No photos, contacts, microphone input, camera, or other device sensors are accessed.
- No usage analytics, screen views, tap events, or behavioral data are collected.
- No crash reports are transmitted to external services.
3. Data Stored on the Device
Sprout Math stores learning progress locally on the device using Apple's Core Data framework within the app's private sandbox. This includes:
- A child profile containing only a first name (entered by the parent or child) and a locally generated identifier.
- Session history, mastery progress, review schedules, and sticker records.
- App preferences such as selected theme, companion character, and narration settings.
- A parent PIN verifier, failed-attempt cooldown, and random installation identity stored in the device-only Keychain.
This data never leaves the device. Sprout Math does not sync it to a cloud service, server, or third party. Uninstalling the app removes the child profile, learning history, and preferences from the app sandbox. iOS may retain device-only Keychain items after uninstall. On the first launch after reinstall, Sprout Math detects the new installation and removes any retained parent PIN and retry state before use.
4. App Network Activity
Sprout Math makes zero network requests in version 1. The app is designed to function entirely offline. There is no backend server, no API, no analytics endpoint, and no telemetry. All content (questions, lessons, hints, and rewards) is bundled inside the app.
5. App Services and SDKs
Sprout Math does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, social media frameworks, or crash-reporting services. The app uses only Apple-provided system frameworks for its interface, local storage, audio, and device security.
To be explicit, Sprout Math version 1 does not use: Sign in with Apple or any other sign-in mechanism; push notifications; in-app purchases or subscriptions; third-party analytics or crash reporting services; advertising networks; or social media frameworks.
6. Website and Support Email
- The website does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, cookies, account registration, contact forms, or embedded third-party page resources.
- Cloudflare delivers and protects the website. Like any web host or content-delivery provider, Cloudflare processes ordinary request information, such as an IP address, browser details, and security signals, as needed to serve and protect the site. Sprout Math does not use that information to track visitors, advertise, or build profiles.
- If an adult emails support@sproutmath.app, the developer receives the sender's email address and the contents of the message solely to respond, provide support, protect the service, and keep records when reasonably necessary.
- Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes or as required by law. An adult may request deletion by emailing support@sproutmath.app.
Support is intended for parents and guardians. Do not include a child's full name, school, address, precise location, photographs, account credentials, or other sensitive information in a support message.
7. Children's Privacy
Sprout Math is designed primarily for children ages 6–8 and includes a broader K–5 curriculum. It is intended for the Apple App Store Kids Category, Ages 6–8.
- The current app does not collect personal information online from children or transmit child data to the developer, Cloudflare, or another third party.
- Because the current app does not collect personal information online, it does not ask for parental consent to collect such information.
- The app contains no links to external websites, no social features, no messaging, and no user-generated content.
- A parent-created four-digit PIN protects settings, progress reports, privacy controls, and local data deletion. Retry limits apply, and parent access expires when the app leaves the foreground or after five minutes.
The parent gate prevents children from entering parent-facing areas; it is not used as legal consent for collecting personal information.
Note: Apple may collect certain anonymized, aggregated data at the operating system level (such as crash logs) if a user has opted into this at the device level through iOS settings. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy (apple.com/privacy) and is separate from Sprout Math's practices. Sprout Math itself initiates no data collection of any kind.
8. Diagnostics and Logging
Sprout Math does not maintain an in-app diagnostics log or support-log export for parents. The app does not send crash reports, analytics events, or diagnostics to the developer.
9. Data Security
Apple's app sandbox protects child learning data stored with Core Data. The parent PIN verifier, retry state, and installation identity use device-only Keychain storage. Sprout Math sends none of this data over a network, so the app has no server-side store or transmission path for it.
10. Future Versions and Optional Purchases
If a future version introduces accounts, cloud sync, online services, or any new data transmission, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that version is released. Any collection of a child's personal information would be clearly disclosed and would use parental notice and consent when required by law.
A future version may offer optional paid add-ons through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple would process the transaction under its own privacy terms; Sprout Math would not receive a full payment-card number. Before any purchase feature is released, the app and this policy will be updated to describe any purchase records or data handling that actually applies.
11. Retention, Deletion, and Your Choices
- Delete child data: Use protected Parent Settings to delete the child profile and learning history, or uninstall the app to remove the app sandbox. A fresh installation clears any parent PIN and retry state retained by iOS Keychain.
- Review stored data: Use the parent dashboard to review local placement, mastery, and recent learning activity stored on the device.
- No account to close: There is no account, so there is nothing to cancel or deactivate.
- Delete a support message: An adult may request deletion of support correspondence by emailing support@sproutmath.app from the address used to contact support.
12. Policy Changes
Material changes will be posted here with a new last-updated date before the related app or website practice begins. If a change requires parental notice or consent, Sprout Math will provide it before collecting the affected information.
